چکیده

The basis of the human phonation process is given by complex interaction of air flow in the larynx together with structural mechanics of the vocal folds. This paper presents a numerical scheme to model the fluid-solid interaction in the human larynx and its resulting acoustic sound. The scheme is utilised to simulated the phonation process in a 2D-model. Different geometries of the vocal folds have been used to analyse the effect on the fluid field, the vibration of the vocal folds and the sound generation. The results show the self sustained oscillation of the vocal folds and resolve the Coanda effect.

Finite element modeling of the human head under baton impact

Purpose: This research will try to predict damage probability and calculate the main stress resulted from baton impacts by finite element (FE) modeling of the human head considering skull texture, brain and cerebrospinal fluid.Materials and Methods: A three dimensional FE model of the skull-brain complex was constructed for simulating the baton impact. The FE analysis was carried out using ANSY...

Stress Analysis of the Human Ligamentous Lumber Spine-From Computer-Assisted Tomography to Finite Element Analysis

Detailed investigation on biomechanics of a complex structure such as the human lumbar spine requires the use of advanced computer-based technique for both the geometrical reconstruction and the stress analysis. In the present study, the computer-assisted tomography (CAT) and finite element method (FEM) are merged to perform detailed three dimensional nonlinear analysis of the human ligamentous...

Mathematical Models and Numerical Schemes for the Simulation of Human Phonation

Acoustic data has long been harvested in fundamental voice investigations since it is easily obtained using a microphone. However, acoustic signals alone do not reveal much about the complex interplay between sound waves, structural surface waves, mechanical vibrations, and fluid flow involved in phonation. Available high speed imaging techniques have over the past ten years provided a wealth o...

Minimization of the Sheet Thinning in Hydraulic Deep Drawing Process Using Response Surface Methodology and Finite Element Method

In most of the sheet forming processes, production of the parts with minimum thickness variation and low required force is important. In this research, minimization of the sheet thinning and forming force in the hydraulic deep drawing process has been studied. Firstly, the process is simulated using the finite element method (FEM) and simulation model is verified using the experimental results....

Chip Formation Process using Finite Element Simulation “Influence of Cutting Speed Variation”

The main aim of this paper is to study the material removal phenomenon using the finite element method (FEM) analysis for orthogonal cutting, and the impact of cutting speed variation on the chip formation, stress and plastic deformation. We have explored different constitutive models describing the tool-workpiece interaction. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model with damage initiation and damag...
